A couple of years ago I bought my first used popup camper. It was a 1972 Starcraft Stardust. Your post is bang on for the things you need to look out for. After a year or so, we ended up upgrading to a newer travel trailer. That said, the popup was well worth the experience.

My wife and I are having our first child, and are avid campers, both back country and car camping. It might be time to keep the tent for the back country and look at a tent trailer. There are some excellent choices out there, and they have come a long way since my father's tent trailer.

Hi, Thanks for the blog! We looked at pop ups this fall and we are still looking but I think we will go with a trailer type and pull it behind our truck.
