Great oven for the off grid folks

by Rod Reidnauer from Pennsburg, Pennsylvania United States on 2009-09-07
Absolutely a great little oven. Definitely bigger than I expected, but not horrendously large. It makes up for it in interior space though. I had none of the sticking door problems, but I did "adjust" the catches a bit to my liking and works fine whether hot or cold. I agree with the substandard packaging, as my one end was slightly pressed in a bit, but doesn't affect function.

As for heating, I don't know why others are reporting problems. Yes, the knob setting is very sensitive, but not unmanageable. (everything from off to full on happens in slightly more than an eighth turn of the knob) I am able to get my oven down to 250F before risking flameout. (at this lowest setting, you may blowout the flame if you open the door) I found that I can monitor the flame by closely looking through the door hinge gaps. Obtaining lower temperatures could be achieved by propping the door open slightly with a fork or something.

I was worried about maintaining clearances to combustibles, but my fears were unfounded, as the oven doesn't generate much radiated heat to the sides or bottom. The table doesn't heat up. (the bottom heat shield works wonders!)

For the camper who wants to bring a little home comfort to the wilderness, or the person living off-the-grid, on-the-cheap, this oven is a great value, especially when it can be acquired for less than $100. Coleman's propane griddle would be a perfect companion item.

Awesome outdoor oven!!

by Rachael Bush from Ogden, UT United States on 2010-07-14
I love this oven! It bakes fairly evenly and keeps the heat out of my kitchen during the summer! The knob needs consistent attention to maintain proper temperature, but it is easy to start, easy to use, spacious enough for a 9x13 pan and browns food nicely. I started with a camp chef oven/stove combo and the BTU output for the stove wasn't enough for my needs (boiling large pot of water for cooking noodles for dinner, pan frying foods, etc.), and the oven didn't have the BTUs this one does.

If you like to bake but don't because it's too hot to run an oven, this is the oven for you. I also got mine at costco.com for a better price, delivered to my house. It's great for making pizza, bread and cookies, I love it!!

It's big but it works

by Cheri R. Wilson from Huntington WV on 2009-03-11
This oven is HUGE. Keep that in mind if you are limited on space and plan to travel with it. It cooks well but this is not a set and forget oven. You will need to watch the temp gauge and adjust the heat. For anything that would need to cook for long periods of time this may be a hassle, however while camping pizza rolls for a snack, biscuits and gravy for breakfast fresh cookies as an afternoon snack is well worth it to me. Countless ideas come to mind. Just plan well so you are baking items that will take no longer than 15 minutes so that you don't ruin that outdoor trip.
I also used this during a power outage that lasted 4 days due to an ice storm. Coupled with my Coleman stove we ate like kings compared to most in that same boat.

Duck Blind
by R. Fussell from on 2009-12-23
Bought this for use in a duckblind. Works great. Heats up fast and makes perfect biscuits. Temp is not as easily regulated in your home oven but all in all a great product.

Excellent
This is the absolute bomb for cooking on the trail. My only warning is this: Don't turn your back for even a second because when you look again it will be boiling over. It is amazingly quick.

Not so Pantastic, but still adequate

by Kevin Long from Los Angeles, CA on 2010-04-18
My recommendation would be to forgo the pan and utensils all together and just get the Jetboil PCS system instead. The PCS system (Personal Cook System) is really good for boiling water. It boils water extremely fast and the pot can be used as a mug or a cup additionally. It also works really well in low temperatures which means that igniting the flame with the integrated piezoelectric igniter is going to make it very easy and fast. If size is an issue and you must have a fry pan for limited cooking the entire set is not all bad. I have cooked with it and it does an adequate job, it just requires a little more work to use the fry pan than I would like. Just get the word Gourmet out of your mind.

Great stove, very durable. I take it out kayaking with me and also hiking/camping. Very compact, easily fits into my drybag with minimal storage area used up. Simple to use, no priming, no tiny or cumbersome parts to deal with. Seems to hold up well. Would highly recommend. I looked at this several times before deciding to get it and now that I have it, can't believe I waited so long to get it. It makes cooking meals/boiling water so much easier and speedier. On a superficial level, it looks pretty cool and impresses the people you are with.

This product is great. It is easy to use, is sturdy, and packs inside of itself. It seems like this will last a lifetime. I live in a small town and the fuel is hard to come by as many places won't ship it and we don't have a big sporting goods store.

good stuff

by Ingus from LA, Ca, USA on 2008-10-17
I love this set of Jetboil. Everything is fairly well thought out, and it does boil water EXTREMELY fast. indoors (no wind) it can boil 2 cups of room temperature water in less than 100 sec. out doors, while not as fast, its build in windshield/heat spreader still manages to boil water in under 3 minutes. most of the time i can start with my food before other campers finished priming/setting up their stoves.

the whole stove/support/cup/pan fits and locks into each other exceedingly well, but sometimes too clever for its own good. this is partly Jetboil (the company)'s fault - their manual left many small details untouched so the less patient users end up using the set incorrectly.

common complains:

1. This comes up often, some people complain about cup's bottom protector doesn't come off easily, one even suggested cutting the edges of the protector to make the whole thing fit better. I wonder if they ever realized the cup bottom is grooved, and the protector can be inserted and removed in one specific direction, by design.

2. Another common complain is while using the pan, the support legs could not be set on top of the stove firmly, and can be tripped over easily, along with the food. Initially I was puzzled by this as well, but if you play around with the stove and the support a bit, you'll find it's also got notches and grooves for a firm lock down.

aside from these, there are a few problems I see with the set.

1. the cup and the frying pan's cooking surface is NOT non-sticking, so cleanup after meal is a hassle. but for backpacking, perhaps this is more convenient - you don't have to treat the pan as delicately. Scrubbing it with sand and leaf works just fine.

2. the spatula uses the same material as the spoon and fork, but unfortunately, this material doesn't stand up to high temperature well. after one use or two, you'll see some damage on the edge of the spatula. Not a huge problem since its still fully functional, but still...

3. the heat exchanger works great for the cup, but not so good with the pan. because the cup and the stove has the same radius, its very easy to align them and lock them down. however, since the pan is at least twice as big as the stove head, setting it right to the middle can be a chore, and the exchanger's many folds can catch the support legs, knocking the stove down. with practice it'll become easier to estimate the center of the pan, but still, had Jetboil's design included a metal ring on the inner side of the exchanger, this would've been much easier.

4. the cup is not perfectly round, and neither is the pot supporter. which means fitting the support into the cup takes a few tries, and can easily scratch the inside of the cup if you just brute forces it. than again, since the inside surface isn't the non-stick variety, it's not a big deal.

overall, this is still a great cooking set. easy to use, easy to store, and very flexible, with a few design tweaks it'll be close to perfect for campers and backpackers.

sea eagle 330 delux

by from on 2009-06-25
I tried out the 330 deluxe for the first time today and was impressed. I went to a local lake and set up on the beach. No one had a clue as I walked up with this bag what I was up to, as they were swimming. 7 or 8 minutes later, a kayak magically appears! That was fun in itself. It was easy to set up with the foot pump. It took 35 to 40 pumps to fill each of the 3 chambers, and no air escapes from the one way valves AT ALL. Then it's just a couple of pumps each for the spray shields, and 4 to 5 pumps for each of the 2 seat chambers, also with one way valves, and your ready to fish. I test drove in the shallows for 3 or 4 minutes to get a feel for the kayak, which was the first time for me in any kayak, and I was off to the nearest patch of lilly pads, and within 10 minutes caught my first pickerel, and then bass out of my new sea eagle. Sure beats car topping a canoe. Then after 2 hrs., back to the beach, unscrew the valves, roll it up like a sleeping bag, put it in the duffle, and back in the pick-up. The deluxe seats are extremely confortable, very firm and support your back better than most office chairs, let alone canoe seats.
This is a great way to fish any where you please, just on a whim. With no planning. Thats the only way to fish.
        Sincerely, Mark S

by Evan Gilbert from Indianapolis, IN on 2009-09-04
I cannot say enough good things about this kayak. I have owned mine since 2000 when I purchased it while living in Atlanta, GA. Inflation is simple, the bag properly stores everything you need, and the fit and finish of the boat are superb. In its time I have taken my Sea Eagle on calm lakes and rivers in the south numerous times without incident, but I have also tested it a fair amount. We have run it on Section III of the Chattooga in SC including Bull Sluice and also on the Nantahala including the Falls. While this is not the most demanding whitewater out there it is class II and III and I want to back up the mfr. claims that this boat can handle this water. We have also had it in the Atlantic Ocean numerous times and it's a ton of fun to ride waves and crash if you're not careful. We now live in Indianapolis and take it on the White River during the warm months and it is holding up just fine. I can recommend that if you are interested in this boat to look into alternative paddles, as my personal kayak paddle does a much better job for me than the included paddles. We also installed the skeg on the underside of the boat and have found that this improves the yaw of the boat considerably, although it is not a make or break addition. I hope this review helps anyone considering investing in one of these boats. Enjoy the water!

This is our first inflatable kayak. It is quick to inflate, takes less than 10 minutes, & quicker to pack up. Seats & spray guards are a little tricky because of the valves though, you have to pinch it at the base & plug it quickly, but otherwise it's a cinch! We fit fine going tandem, my husband's 6' & I'm 5'5", he likes it better without the rear seat. We've taken the kayak out 8 x so far, mostly to Huntington Harbor & Anaheim Bay. We've gotten good at our synchronicity & can go pretty fast when we want to! We're in Southern California so no rivers nearby but are looking forward to catching some waves in the summer. Feels very durable, but make sure you screw the Boston valves on tightly. The 2nd time we took it out, we didn't realize it right away but the right side was deflating, we were about a 1/2 mile out when paddling & keeping it straight had seemed to get harder & harder, I thought we were in a current or something until I noticed the fold on the right side. We turned around to head back but it was very hard to paddle fighting with the strong pull to the right, but we made it & we're alive to laugh about it now! My fault, I didn't tighten it well enough. Lesson learned. Have fun!
6/4/10 Update, took my 50 lb Aussie Shepherd, unclipped claws & all, on a 2 hour tour in the harbor. Just laid a towel on a board, which she didn't stay on. She was all over the place, she's pretty excitable & not a water dog. Not a single mark or scratch on the kayak though!

Husband and I have no complaints. It has done great for us as novices and will be a great starting point for us. I must emphasize novices here because things were a bit rough the first time we took it out, but the boat held its own! Have every confidence this is a great buy. I can see why the seats can be a pain for some, but they work fine for me. My husband isn't a fan, so maybe it's got something to do with height and weight? Anyway, I like them. I also saw where someone thought the oars were too small...again, we have no complaints about that. There was also a reviewer that said there wasn't enough room in the kayak. My husband is 6'3 and I am 5'6, and we are plenty comfortable. We even have space to pack a few items. We already have great stories and adventures to share, and looking forward to many more!

I purchased this for use while on my sail boat. I first set this up in my home to make sure everything worked. I then loaded the boat, paddles, seats, pump and life jacket into the bag and strapped it on the motorcycle for a trip to the lake. It was strange to launch a kayak from a bag but beyond that it performed well as I paddled it back and forth across the lake. It is not as fast as the solid kayak I owned but I felt it was more stable. It was also more comfortable. Wind gusts did have a profound effect wanting to spin the craft. (I will try centering the seat position next time.) I found if I did not fight it I could do a complete 360 with help of a paddle stroke and never lose course. This was actually kind of amusing and enjoyable. May have looked a bit strange from shore but as they say dance like no one is watching:)

Great Tent

by Chris Wolf from Keosauqua, Ia. on 2008-08-25
After much research, we decided to purchase this tent to replace our older, smaller tent. We left on vacation shortly after receiving the Big Sky Elite, with only one trial set-up under our belts. The directions were a little vague, but my 14 year old son and I got it set-up in a matter of minutes. The interior is huge. We (2 adults, a 14 yr old and a 4 year old) had plenty of space to spread out. We had a queen size air mattress on one end and the boys had sleeping bags on the other. We had several feet in between for our bags, etc. It was great not having to crawl over anyone to go in and out the door. The light is wonderful. We were able to read with no problems, and it didn't show up super bright outside the tent. Thankfully, the bugs that it attracted weren't able to get into the tent. One night of our vacation it rained steadily. We only had a couple minor seam leaks. If the rain fly was a little larger, it would have taken some of the pressure off the seams. At times, the rain fly would catch so much water, then it would pour it right down the front of the tent. It sounded like it was pouring it right inside. The door was ok, but it could've been a little better. You have to get it just so for the velcro to hold it. There is also some confusion with the way the frame rod is zipped in the door. It is easy to mistakenly get ahold of the wrong zipper when trying to get in the door.
Overall, we had a very good experience with our new Coleman Montana Big Sky Elite tent. We camped for 4 nights near Glacier National Park in Montana and it worked out very well for our family. We give it a solid 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone.

It's alright, but I look forward to upgrading to a higher quality tent
by S. Eckland from on 2010-02-23
Pros: Love the size, perfect for putting queen air mattress on one side with two twins on the other - leaves plenty of room for duffle bags and the dog's bed in the middle. The walls rise up from the floor at a good angle so that the space is really usable. Lots of headroom in the center of the tent for changing. I like the little pocket for keys and phone, but wish they had added one to the other side of the tent also. Windows are nice and big, hinged door is good for the kids - rather than having them yank on the zipper all day. I like the idea of the light - just haven't actually used it. Seems like a pretty solid design as far as sturdiness goes - I wouldn't worry too much if it were windy out. It's not complicated in the way of setting it up, and can be done very easily with two people, but doable with one (not like my friends VERY complicated attached screen house tent - ugh). I like the quick clips for the windows, so that you can partially close them for privacy but still let air in.

Cons: Wish the rainfly was designed a bit different. If I could 'fold' up the sides to expose the windows, I think the tent wouldn't be so hot inside. More mesh on the ceiling under the rainfly to again help the ventilating. It was hotter on the inside than the outside, and didn't seem to vent well at all. I sealed all of the seams, but it still leaked where the floor meets the tent seams, and it was only a steady drizzle. I'd hate to think of how wet we'd be if it had been a downpour. I'm going to try ordering a more expensive seam sealer and see if that helps. I wish they made a ground cover to go with it, I bought a large tarp and cut it down instead. Also, you'll need to buy better stakes, as it comes with the typical cheap kind that bend in hard ground or slip out in soft ground.

Overall, it's probably a nice starter tent, but I can't wait until I can buy a really well made canvas tent that will last a lifetime.

Well, this tent is certainly large enough! The best feature is how easy it is to set up. Working by myself after first practicing in my driveway, I was able to set this tent up in about 15 minutes. It really is a snap. The remote control lamp is a boon for when you wake up in the middle of a very dark night and need to go out to the restroom. The hinged door is a nice concept but didn't exactly work the way that I thought it would but this is not a hindrance in the operation of the door. The door zippers worked just fine. I really enjoyed using this tent. There is enough room for two queen-sized air-mattresses with plenty of room left over for miscellaneous luggage. Taking the tent down is also very easy. As with most items of this type, trying to stuff the tent and poles and rain fly back into the storage bag is next to impossible. I got everything back in except the rain fly. This a great family tent!

We have a camper so was hesitant when we were asked to go camping but had to use a tent. I bought the Coleman Montana Big Sky Elite Tent, 16'x7' for this trip. We were so pleased at the time it took to set this up! It only took maybe 15 minutes. It rained all one night and we stayed totally dry inside the tent. There was plenty of room for all of our things inside the tent also.

Have to say I love this tent it is very spacious we could fit 2 queen size air mattresses and a pack n play and when we went camping it rained 90% of the time and we didn't get wet. Also love the hinged door made it sooooo much easier with the kids. The light inside the tent was also very convenient and easy to assemble....also comes with a little remote for easy switch on and off.
I practiced putting the tent up before we left (only once) and set up and tear down was a breeze:) I would definately recommend this tent to others have to say I LOVE IT and am totally satisfied with my purchase!!

I absolutely love this tent. If your looking for something lightweight and compactible, this is it. It's so easy to set up and super easy to take down and put back into its carrying bag. The materials are the same as whatr you would get with any expensive high-end tent. I fit in this tent just fine with my girlfriend. We slept in it outside in the rain just to test it and we stayed completely dry. This tent has the best full rain fly I've ever used. I recommend this tent to any fellow backpacker and to anyone just looking for a great tent. Coleman has really stepped up its game, as far as making quality tents.

This is an excellent tent. I have used it and am very satisified. I am a Scoutmaster and considering ordering this tent for my troop use. It could fit two scouts, but only one adult in my opinion. I would use it for our backpacking trips only, since it is light to carry. We have large three person tents that I would have the scouts use for camporees and summer camp.

Fantastic Piece of Cookware

by DeusEx from on 2010-05-25
Bought this for camping and am quite pleased...

On the upside- This grill is heavy duty with 2 12,000 BTU burners and steel construction. We were able to cook everything from burgers to ribs with no trouble. On low using indirect heat the unit stays about 300 degrees. Don't know about the high side but I'm sure it's enough to burn anything you want. The grates are enamle coated steel like most porch top grills. Underneath are enamle coated burner covers. There are fold out trays on either side for food prep. With the unit comes a propane adaptor for the small canister type propane bottles. I opted of the RoadTrip Pro 20# Tank Kit Model No. 5010000191 for connecting to a full size 20lb tank. This works very well and depending on how much you grill could last a season. This unit balances well on a slight grade or uneven ground. Food cooks in about the same time as an average porch top grill. Unlike many of the other Coleman Road Trip Grills you can close the lid without the handle melting so you can smoke or cook using indirect heat.

The down side- It's a heavy unit so lifting it in and out of a truck or hold can be tricky. Once on the ground though it rolls fine. Once setup, the weight is a bonus in my opinion as the unit is more stable. Price is a bit high but worth it given the quality. Cleaning... This unit is a PAIN to clean. We've since lined the bottom of the grill (under the burners) with foil so that it captures most of the greese, sause, and debries. This unit is NOT a smaller table top size unit, it is comperable to a full size grill, so even folded it is about 3.5' long, 20" wide, and 15" tall. These may not be downsides depending on your application but I wanted everyone to have a fair understanding of this grill.

The Best Tailgate Grill!!!!
I have been tailgating for years and had the Coleman LXE. I was looking for a grill that had a larger cooking area and still portable. This grill has it. Although it is alittle heavy, it is totally worth it. I highly recommend this grill for any tailgater!

Bought this grill based on other people's reviews for our camper. It arrived broken... the rivets were rusted over and ripped out of the grill... I returned the grill over 2 months ago and I still have not recieved my refund. Every time I call, it's a 30 minute wait and so far every time they have told me thier computers are down and they can not help me. One of the worst customer service companies I've had to deal with! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Great grill, very hot. Cooks evenly. Easy to transport. A little heavy and awkward to load in and out of a truck, but worth it.

We use it A LOT, and appreciate it more each time; one of our best purchases

by Meredith from Gladstone, Oregon USA on 2009-06-14
The Coleman RoadTrip Pro SS Grill is constructed from heavy-duty stainless steel and is extremely well put-together, with easy-to-follow instructions for setting it up, starting it, and even for cleaning it! It's so much easier to clean than other grills we've used. We used it the day we got it, and several times the first week, and since then! We are completely impressed with its even heating, capacity of food we can get on the grill at one time, cooking temperature, and ease of use. We also find it to be extremely flexible.

We purchased the Coleman RoadTrip Full-Size Aluminum Griddle which is a full-sized griddle (as opposed to the half-sized pieces sold for the RoadTrip LX and LXE models Coleman 9949-750 Road Trip Grill, Red Coleman 9941-768 Road Trip Grill (Blue). The half-size accessory pieces will NOT fit the larger Coleman RoadTrip Pro SS Grill. Therefore, the full-size griddle is an excellent addition; it is smaller but fits in and cooks well. (See our review from earlier today).

The sturdy steel folding legs, larger size, and thermometer on the hood are three key reasons why we got this grill instead of the LX or LXE models. In addition, the Pro SS has 24,000 BTU (12,000 BTU per burner, controlled independently), 4,000 more than the LX or LXE, and 345 square inches of cooking space, 65 square inches more than the LX or LXE. The Pro SS's grilling surface consists of two 12x15-inch enamel-coated steel grates. The Pro SS preheated quickly and stayed quite hot when we opened the lid, and it got back up to around 600 degrees once we shut the lid again (after turning the meat).

The inconvenience of the Pro SS would be if we were taking the grill out a lot; it weighs 69 pounds, heavier than the LX or LXE and therefore more cumbersome to move about. However, we use it 90% right off of our small, third-floor apartment patio, and for the times we take it out, it's such a good grill, the advantages outweigh the size and weight disadvantages. Our Pro SS is built solidly, and fits well on our patio. It's such a good grill, we no longer bemoan the fact that we don't have space for a full-size grill.

The two side tables flip out (hinged), and have stainless steel panels. They are strong enough to hold heavier items. There are three utensil hooks on the right-side table, and a portable camping-type propane holder, and towel holder, on the left table. We bought the large propane tank adapter Coleman High-Pressure Propane Hose and Adapter, which works well. (See my review dated earlier today).

We also bought the Coleman cover Coleman RoadTrip Grill Cover), which is another durable grill accessory from Coleman (see our review from earlier today).

We are also impressed with Coleman's three-year warranty on the RoadTrip Pro SS Grill. But as well as this grill is built, that's just an added perk; we doubt we'll have to use it.

Back in June I had a comment posted to the "Cooler Tips" post from Randy the owner of CoolerInsulators.com. I checked out the site as I always do before approving a comment and what I saw looked like a great idea. I shot an email off to Randy asking him if he would be interested in a review of his product. He promptly responded and asked what size cooler I owned and where to send it. I responded and soon a cooler insulator was on its way to my doorstep.

We had a trip planned for the end of July and I received the package a few days before leaving. The packaging was in great shape when it arrived. Once opened I looked over the insulator, they are well put together and have flaps on either end to allow access to the cooler's handles. The flaps have a velcro closure to seal up the opening when not in use. I got out my standard 48qt Coleman cooler and the cover fit perfectly.

As you can see it has a silver, reflective surface on the outside to reflect the suns heat. The access for the cooler handles is also visible as is the black trim to finish off the bottom edge.

The day of our trip we packed the cooler with food and beverages all of which were cooled prior to packing. Once loaded with ice the insulator was placed on the cooler and it was loaded into the bed of our truck. We always take more than one cooler, it was also packed and loaded but without an insulator. The second cooler is a larger Rubbermaid 5-day cooler that has thicker walls and insulation than the standard Coleman cooler.

Once we arrived at the campground and got set up it was time to see how the ice was holding up in the coolers. Keep in mind that both coolers were in the back of the truck in direct sunlight for around 5 hours with a temperature in the 90's. I opened up the 5-day Rubbermaid cooler and found that there was considerable melting, especially around the sides of the cooler. There was a good inch of melt all around the outside edges. I opened the Coleman cooler that had the insulator on it, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the ice had held up much better than in the 5-day cooler.

Normally during our camping trips I am constantly moving the coolers around to keep them in the shade and out of direct sunlight. During this trip I left the coolers in one spot all day long, resulting in at least 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight everyday. I would say overall that we only went through half of the ice we would normally use on a trip of this length. If both coolers would have had insulators, we would have used even less.

Here are the advantages I see of using the cooler insulator:

Keeps your food colder, longer

You use less ice

You do not have to worry about your cooler sitting in the sun

Upgrades your existing cooler

Helps keep your toddler out of the cooler(It kept our little one out, who likes to dig out the ice)

Will pay for itself after a few trips

So if you are thinking about upgrading coolers or just want your ice to last longer I would recommend a cooler insulator. It will pay for itself in no time at all, and you will worry less about keeping your food and drink cold.

Tubing and canoeing has always been one of our favorite activities while camping. Having small children put a stop to the day long tube or canoe float. Wanting to get back on the river we decided that rafting would be a safe alternative to get us back on the water. After researching the prices the outfitters charge for rafts, we decided to purchase our own boat.
Doing what anyone else would do we turned to the internet and started doing research. We finally decided to purchase a inflatable raft from Sea Eagle. The raft of choice was the Sea Eagle 9 with the startup package. The start up package includes the boat, oar set, foot pump, high seat and rowing seat. We purchased directly from Sea Eagle and received free shipping on the entire package. Having small children on the raft we also decided to purchase the optional canopy to keep the little ones shaded during the trip. We hit a few snags during the ordering process, but there customer service is top notch and took care of our problem promptly.

Once the raft arrived we opened up the packaging and found everything to be in perfect condition. The raft has five separate chambers made from 38 mil polykrylar, and I must say this material feels very strong. The raft weighs in at 38 lbs. and is very easy to carry. Wanting to get a feel for everything prior to hitting the river we followed the instructions to inflate the boat. Using the foot pump was very fast and the deluxe valves made the inflation process painless. Once inflated the children got in for a closer inspection and it of course passed. Take down was just as fast using the deluxe valves, following the directions the raft folded up very nicely.

The real test came in July when we took the raft to Jacks Fork river in southern Missouri. After shuttling vehicles around we set up the raft for our trip which was an 8 mile float from Alley Springs to Emminence. Again set up fast and uneventful and we set out on our trip. The Jacks Fork river is somewhat shallow this time of year so dragging was definitely an issue. The raft handled the river rocks and the stray tree stumps without suffering any damage. The canopy was a great add-on as it kept the front passenger in the shade and out of the cold rain that caught us about 1 mile from the take out point. We also managed to hit a few low hanging trees with the canopy and it made it through without damage.

The Sea Eagle 9 also has a motor-mount option that allows the use of up to a 4 hp gas motor. Wood floorboards are also available to allow a fisherman to stand in the boat. Overall I would say the SE 9 is a great value for the weekend rafter. I would not hesitate to purchase another boat from Sea Eagle. They also have inflatable kayaks, yacht tenders and small sailboats.

Great deals on the Sea Eagle 9 can also be found on eBay:
